Shamanic and Traditional qi gong: The balance
I am very excited to bring qi gong to the community I live in and wanted to refine my session and practice to encompass ancient shamanic practices with traditional forms. I have read so much literature and so many conflicting methods on practices. I decided fuck it. I reached out with my heart to ask the Universe, my guides and what I received was “use what FEELS right”.
Great interview with Master Zongxian Wu. The Taoist roots of qi gong, journeying with qi gong, dancing, heart opening/ritual of the heart, historical timeline. He explains embodiment of spirits really well when talking about the “tiger within”. I also appreciate his simple tea ceremony. Connecting with the senses.
Master Zongxian makes talisman calligraphy. https://chinesewisdomtraditions.com/talisman-calligraphy Talisman creation is a huge part of my spiritual practice. Although I don’t do talisman calligraphy, I make sculptural objects, either environmental or wearable.
Developing my personal practices to provide in sessions
AA Prayer and Meditation Sessions
I was teaching specifically for addiction recovery and I believe I provided a beautiful practice for that group. The structure of the session correlated with the AA Prayer and Meditation meeting. Opening with AA readings, tea ceremony, introduction of all meeting members and meditation. We then when into breath, warmup then a structured flow with the 8 piece brocade or other set. In the structured flow I wove the groups prayers, speaking them gently into life as a group we breathed these in and out. In between movements we would complete a centering breath. We ended with centering breaths and stillness.
Individual work
I found myself making a house call recently to a woman I hold very dearly in my heart. We worked through some amazing things in that session! I am so grateful to have been called to her. There were times that only 1 person arrived for an AA meeting and I would lean into an individualized practice with them. I really loved doing those.
General Group Sessions
I have concepts that I am now weaving into a new practice that will likely evolve :) I will keep these to myself for now! I want to name it something.. I think I will find a name as I work with it.
